Mr Christopher Ngwira (R) Chief Internal Auditor of CDH Investment Bank, presents a cheque to Mr Albert Dambula, Chief Executive Officer at The Institute of Internal Auditors
CDH Investment Bank has donated K5 million to the Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi (IIA Malawi) in support of the Institute’s governance forum and annual conference, to be held from 7 to 13 September 2026 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi. The conference will take place under the theme “The Currency of Trust: Governance as Strategy, Assurance as Proof.”
Presenting the cheque, CDH Investment Bank Chief Internal Auditor Christopher Ngwira said the sponsorship reflected the bank’s appreciation of IIA Malawi’s contribution to stronger governance across the economy. Well-governed institutions, he noted, are better placed to support national development.
Mr Ngwira said the audit profession has a critical role in strengthening integrity and resilience. By providing independent assurance on governance, risk management and internal controls, auditors help organisations prevent fraud, meet evolving regulatory requirements and safeguard resources. As Malawi expands financial inclusion and digital banking, he added, robust internal audit functions remain essential to trustworthy service delivery, prudent risk management and sustainable growth.
Receiving the sponsorship, Mr Albert Dambula, Chief Executive Officer at The Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi, thanked CDH Investment Bank for its support of the governance forum and conference. He said the theme speaks to Malawi’s ambition to build a more resilient economy through industrialisation, an objective that requires close collaboration among government, the private sector and financial institutions.
He emphasised that organisations across sectors have a responsibility to strengthen governance frameworks that can mobilise investment, support business growth, deepen financial inclusion and finance industries capable of driving economic expansion. In a rapidly changing operating environment, he added, institutions must continue to innovate and adapt, drawing lessons from platforms such as the conference.
IIA Malawi looks forward to continued collaboration with CDH Investment Bank and other stakeholders in advancing stronger governance systems in support of national development.
