Business Development Manager

CDH Investment Bank, the leading specialist bank in Malawi, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join the team as Business Development Manager to be based at our Capital City Banking Centre in Lilongwe.

Role summary

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for serving the bank’s commercial banking customers in the central and northern regions of Malawi. This role requires the Manager to grow and effectively manage a designated portfolio of top-tier corporate and public sector. The Manager will drive business growth by offering tailored financial solutions, enhancing client relationships and enhancing the bank’s market presence in the central and northern regions of Malawi.

Key responsibilities

  • Sales
  • Grow commercial banking business
  • Generate revenues for corporate banking and
  • Oversee and drive the bank’s business commercial banking, business administration in the central and northern regions to enhance presence, grow the business and revenues.
  • Develop and manage a segregated portfolio of high-value corporate and public sector and financial services clients.
  • Identify new business opportunities in investment banking, commercial banking and trading through implementation of strategic business development initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities
    • Grow a book in funding, trading and advisory client relationships
    • Manage and grow relationships
    • Lead a team
    • Research and product development
    • Lead in client centric relationship management activities to ensure superior service delivery.
  • Lead a pool of Banking Centre Managers and Account Relationship Managers.
  • Review and recommend credit applications, ensuring compliance with Bank policies.
  • Lead in product development, research and innovations to support business growth.

Qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance
  • Master’s degree in or professional qualification in accounting and finance
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in banking, business development, or financial services
  • Strong understanding of banking operations and regulatory frameworks.

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration package, commensurate with the role’s seniority, skills, and experience, will be offered to the successful candidate.
