CDH Investment Bank staff commemorate International Women’s Day

International Women's Day was commemorated on Friday 8th March 2024 under the theme is 'Invest in Women: Inspire Inclusion,' acknowledging the profound impact of empowering women.

CDH Investment Bank joined global citizens in celebrating the women at the bank. The women, all wearing purple outfits (color for the day) thanked the bank for inspiring an inclusive environment where women are thriving.

The women also took part in a photo shoot with #InspireInclusion pose to show solidarity, the images of which were shared with their friends and families.

CDH Investment Bank hosts stakeholder engagement cocktail

CDH Investment Bank hosted a CEO stakeholder engagement cocktail that took place on Friday 19th January 2024 at Amaryllis Hotel, in Blantyre. The event officially informed stakeholders of the executive appointments of Mr Thoko Mkavea as the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of CDH Investment Bank and Ms Beatrix Mosiwa as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st January 2024.

CDH Investment Bank invests in wellness

On 1st and 8th March 2024, CDH Investment Bank staff took time off their work to enjoy wellness activities in Blantyre and Lilongwe.  The activities were conducted as part of the bank’s wellness program which is organized to encourage our employees to embrace behaviors and activities that facilitate healthy lifestyles and teamwork. The program started with a health check in the morning, followed by games and aerobics sessions in the evening.

CDH Investment Bank commits to a sustainable green economy through LUANAR tree-planting exercise

CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB) in partnership with Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) conducted the annual tree-planting exercise in Bunda on Friday 1st March 2024.

Speaking during the tree-planting ceremony in Lilongwe at Kadedwa Primary School in Pundu village in Lilongwe on Friday, the Bank’s Chief Treasury Officer, Mr Zondwayo Mafuleka said, “The tree-planting initiative reinforced CDH Investment Bank’s commitment to support environmental restoration.

Appointment of Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director

The Board of Directors of CDH Investment Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Thoko Mkavea as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of CDH Investment Bank. His appointment is effective from 1st January 2024.

Thoko succeeds Mr Kwame Ahadzi who joined the Bank in February 2022 as the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director and retired on 31 December 2023. The Board of Directors of CDH Investment Bank expresses its appreciation to Mr Ahadzi for his inspirational leadership in growing the human and financial capital of the bank. As Mr Ahadzi returns home to Ghana, the Board wishes him and his family good health and happiness in his well-deserved retirement.

Thoko brings a wealth of experience in banking, corporate finance and advisory, fund management and investment banking having spent over 24 years in various senior leadership roles. Thoko joined the CDH Group in 2007 as the Fund and Investments Manager. In 2012 when the Discount House was transformed into an Investment Bank, Thoko was appointed as the Chief Investment Bank Officer until October 2020 when he was appointed as Deputy CEO and Executive Director overseeing our investment banking activities, treasury, business development and operations of the bank.

Mr Mkavea is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Derby (UK) and a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of Malawi.

The Board of Directors of CDH Investment Bank wishes Mr Mkavea success and we look forward to a seamless transition and a prosperous future under his guidance.
