Two Central Zone Basketball League (CEZOBAL) sides Brave Hearts and Arkangels won the K10million CDH Investment Bank ‘Money in the Bank’ invitational tournament at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) Sports Complex in Blantyre on Sunday 15th October 2023.
The three-day tournament, that commenced on Friday 13th October 2023, Brave Hearts men emerged champions after defeating Central Knights 75-42 in the final whereas Arkangels beat Brave Hearts ladies 53-38 to win the ladies trophy.

The champions pocketed K2.5million each, with the runners-up receiving K1million each. Brave hearts Assistant Coach Dominic Munyenyembe said it was a successful tournament as they won the men’s title and settled for silver in the ladies category.
“These are fruits of our hard work and determination as we invested in the game. We used this competition to prepare for the Basketball Africa League in Botswana, expected to start on October 20. So far, we are impressed with our performance. We applaud the sponsor’s for their support,” he said.
Arkangels captain Nomsa Dzobo said they worked hard to win the title, despite facing very tough opponents.
In the veteran’s category SOZOBAL legends emerged winners after beating Top City 63-49 in the final.

SOZOBAL General Secretary Dumisani Kawiya hailed CDH Investment Bank for the financial support saying it is helping in the development of basketball in Malawi.
On his part, Mr Jamal Kamoto CDH Investment Bank, Acting Chief Business Development Officer, shared that CDH Investment Bank is proud to have sponsored the memorable event. The sponsorship from CDH Investment Bank aims to develop basketball, support the promotion of health, businesses and skills growth that is enshrined in the Bank’s ethos.

CDHIB ‘Money in the Bank’ was a thrilling display of athleticism and sportsmanship and the prize giving ceremony saw patron’s young and old winning a variety of branded gifts from CDH Investment Bank.
